Minneapolis reports Joseph D Bren indicted by Hennepin County grand jury on grand larceny of 21,616.21 of university funds. Former cashier and accountant claimed he was robbed of 13,500 on June 2 while carrying funds to the accountant's office. The jury did not consider any potential shortage beyond the listed funds.
The report details a preliminary indictment tied to missing university funds. It cites $13,826.79 robbed, $4,990 hidden in a university vault, and $716 plus $360 turned over to cover shortages. An additional alleged shortage of $6,000 to $7,000 is noted but not yet presented to the grand jury. Witnesses include C W Farwell and Frank Stacy among accountants and university officials.

The House approved the Underwood wool tariff bill 221 to 100, cutting duties on wool and wool products. Twenty-four Republicans joined Democrats. one Democrat, Francis of Ohio, voted no. The bill lowers raw wool to 20 percent ad valorem and reduces duties on partly manufactured wool and products, with expected revenue drop of about $1 million annually. It takes effect January 1, but Senate passage this session was considered unlikely.

Hibbing Minnesota June 21 Peter Vorbenich alias John Deitz faced trial for attempting to shoot deputy sheriffs after refusing to let logs float from his Water Hen River claim. Deputies were allegedly driven off the claim and fired upon. he and his wife were charged with assault with intent to kill but were acquitted.
