Double Pinch Payroll Begins July 1 In Texas
The 1965 Texas Legislature enacts an income tax increase retroactive to January 1 1965. Revised withholding tables will reach about 70 000 state employers on June 15 for July 1 changes. A married earner with two children on 5000 yearly gross would see a 60 cents weekly rise, later reduced to 30 cents from January 1 1965 as the rate is spread over 12 months. A second set of tables for January 1 1966 is planned.
