Paul from Buffalo N Y a senior business major and Sandra from Lansing Mich a retailing major wed on March 20. They live in MSU married student housing and pose with the computer that matched them for the story.
Astronauts James McDivitt and Edward White return to U S soil after Gemini 4. They are greeted by wives and children in Houston, celebrate McDivitt's 36th birthday, and share hugs and smiles with about 500 well-wishers. They plan parades and visits, answer questions about space, and receive a telegram from Yuri Gagarin.
Out-of-state reporters on a three day tour of Alabama, arranged by Governor George Wallace, traveled across the state to assess racial issues and observe industrial and educational growth. They largely failed to meet Negro leaders during their Selma stop and were told they could proceed without escorts.
A hearing on the removal of Chicago Great Western Railway passenger trains No. 13 and 14 serving Hayfield Austin and Lyle will be held June 18 at the Federal Building in Minneapolis. The trains run from Omaha to the Twin Cities and consist mainly of express mail cars and one coach. This is the last CGW passenger service to Austin after Milwaukee Road discontinued service. CGW had earlier ended Kansas City to Twin Cities service.
The Associated Press reports stormy weather across the central and southern Plains caused floods forcing hundreds to flee homes in central and eastern Kansas. Tornadoes, heavy rain, hail and high winds affected Texas Panhandle and areas of Nebraska and Kansas with flash floods near Emporia. A 17 year old was killed by lightning near Pecos, Texas as five inches of rain drenched regions south of Pecos. Weather Bureau warned of more heavy rain moving into Kansas from Wyoming and Nebraska.
The Iowa Legislature ended its longest session on its 145th day with House Speaker Vince Steffen and Lt. Gov. Robert Fulton striking the final gavels at 12:02 p.m. The closing minute was set for 5 p.m. last Friday. Gov. Harold Hughes was away on a European trip. Ten senators attended the final gavel as Fulton signed final bills and Sen. Howard Reppert revived a pari mutuel bill briefly.
A Viet Cong assault at Dong Xoai 60 miles north of Saigon left 21 Americans at a nearby special forces camp dead missing or wounded. Reports varied with Washington listing 7 dead and 13 wounded. Vietnamese losses mounted as reinforcements were decimated and an airstrip targetted.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals tossed out a $924,396 damage award to the widow and two children of concert pianist William Kapell, who died in a 1953 plane crash near San Francisco.
Two workers were injured in an explosion and fire at a plastics company bake oven in Maple Plain Minnesota. Alice Sohns was hospitalized at Watertown Community Hospital with undetermined injuries. Allen Sullivan, about 21, received treatment at a local doctor’s office.
London AP reports British European Airways achieved the world’s first wholly automatic landing of a commercial jet on a scheduled flight carrying 88 passengers. The automated approach touched down safely as the control systems guided the Boeing or equivalent aircraft.
Madison sheriff seeks operator of a hit and run boat that struck angler Donald Olson wading near shore of Lake Madison at about 9 p.m. Olson suffered broken ribs a broken wrist and facial cuts. Witnesses David Armstrong and Olson reported the boat as it fled the scene.

Stockholders of Baldwin Lima Hamilton Corp approve merging with Armour and Co., the nation’s second largest meat packer. Armour stockholders will vote Friday. The decision was announced at a half hour meeting in Baldwin’s Philadelphia suburb headquarters. Thomas M. Evans, once suing to block the merger, did not attend. he owns Baldwin stock valued over $2 million.
Leo the lion once defied eviction attempts by Abington Township officials under a wild animal ban. On Wednesday he lay very ill at his master's home in Willow Grove, raising fears he could die soon. Garageman Howard Sautter, owner of the rickets‑crippled creature, reported Leo’s condition worsening and possible death at any time.
Isabel Martinez de Peron, 34, wife of ex Argentine President Juan D. Peron, returned to Madrid today after visits to Paraguay and New York. She told reporters in New York she hopes to persuade her husband to join her again in September. The Perons live in exile in Spain.
