Washington January 20 The Philippine question will be brought to the Senate this week as the Philippines committee, which has handled the house Philippine tariff bill, proceeds with its work. The measure's fate is expected to unfold as debate begins in the upper chamber.

Savannah Ga January 20 Admiral Schleys hunting party returns from St Catherine Island with a large bag of game. Admiral Schley is credited with bringing down one deer his first. A party member says he was more excited than at Santiago. Weather was superb. Admiral and Mrs Schley will depart for Washington this afternoon. He did not authorize a Chicago statement about discussing his case before the Hamilton club. He refused to talk beyond that.
Milwaukee mayor announces a mass meeting next Thursday to draft a formal invitation to Prince Henry of Prussia. German American societies and lodges are urged to send committees and cooperate with Senators Queiles Spooner and Postmaster General Payne to include Milwaukee on the royal itinerary.
A boiler explosion at a spinning mill near Manresa destroyed half the village of Puente de Vilara. Sixty people are reported dead and about one hundred injured, with thirty not expected to survive. The disaster left mutilated corpses, toppled buildings, and a long rescue effort as night gave way to dawn.
From Willemstad Curaçao dated January 20, reports say insurgents concentrate on Paraguana peninsula and near Uehiro start movements against President Castro. A serious engagement near Barquisimoto in Lara state leaves insurgents victorious, with ongoing street fighting in Maracaibo.
Professor W. Co. Crossman and his 15 year old son Willie were struck and killed by a passenger train on a trestle one mile north of Brendan Texas during the evening. Both died instantly.
Washington January 20 The Korean king’s second son Prince Eui wha is sued by Wolf Bros. & Co. for 306000 on a promissory note. An interpreter reported no defense would be offered, the money was borrowed and spent, and the king was said to be informed and expected to supply payment.
B. B. Hunt of Huntsville Missouri was killed by John Seville who mistook him for an enemy. Hunt came to Seville's home seeking admittance and was shot through a closed door. He died on the steps.
