Kefauver Charges Primary Freeze

Democrats on the West Coast maneuver while Eisenhower previews the State of the Union and health concerns. Kefauver in Los Angeles accuses California party leaders of attempting to freeze him from the June primary, saying it limits voters’ expression. Ex Husband Sought in Slain Mother's case in Minnesota

Merle Peterson, 32, is the subject of a statewide search after Dorothy Peterson, 28, a mother of four, was shot to death in her Minneapolis apartment Saturday. Witnesses include her children and relatives. FBI may aid. Peterson reportedly returned to Minneapolis recently and stayed at a hotel amid quarrels with Dorothy. Edwin Peterson Jr., 32, Anoka, and Mr. and Mrs. John Ball, Minneapolis, also were witnesses. Kefauver signals possible 1956 Democratic nomination decision after California endorsements for Stevenson.

Koscie Marsh of St. Paul leaves the 4th District DFL convention in protest of a state central committee directive to nominate Stevenson pledged delegates to the national convention. Syrians slain as Israeli forces attack outposts by Sea of Galilee

Israeli troops attacked Syrian outposts overlooking the Sea of Galilee at night. Officials said 55 Syrians were killed, four Israelis wounded, and 29 Syrians captured. Crash Kills Both Drivers In Minnesota Collision

A Duluth man died from injuries after a two vehicle crash at the Highways 2 and 65 junction east of Grand Rapids. Albert J. Bouchard 35 and Leonard T. Marshall 33 were involved. Kukuruz of Winnipeg escaped injury. The crash raises Minnesota's yearly traffic toll to 547.

New Figures Completed by Uzlik's Staff

Austin taxpayers faced higher bills as the city budget raised the mill rate from 61.96 to 65.06. Homestead and non homestead figures rose to 215.91 and 221.08 respectively, about 2.38 and 2.33 mills more than last year. A $1 000 assessed home pays $2.38 more. a $4 000 home owner pays $353.73 for non homestead.

Burglars Loot Waltham Liquor Store in $700 Break-In

Burglars struck the Waltham Liquor Store Sunday night and took whiskey, cigarettes, and cash. Manager Baaken said the thieves pried the door and locks, searched the empty safe, dumped cigars, and hauled loot out the back. The incident follows a July burglary with $1,154 stolen.
