Dr Ellis Carnett evangelist at Hyde Park Church revival October 17 to 31. Carnett, a noted tenor soloist, has led music at Southern Baptist events and sings several solos during the meetings. Congregational singing will accompany the revival services.
Walter Davis of Austin leads the event with accompaniment by Patricia Geppert. Services are scheduled twice daily at 9 30 a m and 7 30 p m.

King Gustaf V of Sweden, who had been ill for several days, showed signs of improvement in Stockholm on October 15. Local reports indicate the monarch’s condition has stabilized and he is resting, with medical staff optimistic about his recovery.

In 1830 three Mexican empresario contracts were transferred to the Galveston Bay and Texas Land Company led by Anthony Dey with trustees Sumner and Curtis. The firm began selling shares and planned settlement with settlers and grape cuttings. Landings were blocked by Mexican law, delaying colonization and later forfeiture by the Republic of Texas when foreign empresarios were not recognized.
