Russian Yak fighters conducted mock attacks on a Bristol Wayfarer near Gatow Airfield in Berlin while other fighters practiced in the corridor used by American and British airlift planes. American pilots report at least 25 Russian fighters in the area amid ongoing protests over shooting near US personnel.
General Charles De Gaulle told reporters the French people must elect him back to power or he will take other measures to save France. He condemned the Western European Alliance and criticized Western Powers handling of the Berlin crisis. He urged immediate new elections and said three years will not be tolerated.
State lawmakers propose Mrs Tom Martin wife of the late State Representative Tom Martin of Gillespie County to take her place as the nominee from the 85th district. The petition includes Representatives Phil man Susie of Pratt land and 37 other members and members elect.
Alphonso Moore, 26, broke into a Freehold lumber company office after removing his shoes to ease corn pain. He tried the safe with crowbars for hours until dawn, leaving footprints in powder on the floor. Officers later found Moore limping and carrying his shoes as he was arrested.

Two persons died Friday in a Reading Railroad one car train wreck near Trenton New Jersey. The derailed car overturned caught fire and several others were rescued from the blaze with some reported in Mercer County hospitals in serious condition.
Professor W. J. Rae of the University of Saskatchewan warned a thief who stole several chickens from the university poultry house not to eat them. The birds had been used in experiments and are radioactive, Rae said in a special radio broadcast.

Clarence Peddicord, 30, the blind hitchhiker who crossed the country, has had the first stage of vision-restoring surgery. Dr. Henry Karlin of Saratoga said a corneal transplant on Peddicord’s right eye was performed after reading a United Press dispatch about his journey. Peddicord previously underwent a similar procedure years ago and was advised to return in a year. His wife and two children accompanied him on parts of the journey, though funds limited their travel.
Traffic plan returns for Saturdays Longhorns versus New Mexico game with 50 officers on duty. Extra buses will circle the stadium area from 19th and Guadalupe to 26th and around San Jacinto to Gates 6 and 7.
Dallas County Grand Jury returns a no bill after investigating the August 14 death of a 4 year old boy beaten in a Fort Worth Avenue tourist court cabin. The mother Peggy Mae Pappas, 22, is freed of murder charges.
