County Court at Law designates March 28 as a dedicated week for prosecuting driving while intoxicated cases. County Attorney Perry Jones notes a rising, persistent number of filings with 42 cases scheduled, 13 filed Monday and eight the prior Monday. Convictions carry automatic six month license suspension plus fines and costs. typical fine for guilty pleas is about $50 with costs.
Court records show several divorces granted including Darden Hodges versus Lou Hodges and Diph Sternned versus unknown spouse. State cases note burglaries with two year penitentiary sentences for Alexander and Willie Franking. Marriage licenses issued and new car registrations logged with several local names and vehicles.
Officials and executives from Jefferson Company and parent firms tour a 69 acre Austin site undergoing four buildings remodeling for laboratory use. They are hosted by the Austin Economic Development Foundation with a dinner and Lake Austin boat trip planned. C H Novotny leads remodeling efforts.
