Potato Control Advocate Win in Compromise Farm Bill

Backers of tighter potato marketing controls secured a partial victory in a Senate House conference committee on a farm price support bill. The compromise adds about 1.2 million acres to cotton eligibility and about 100,000 to peanuts, removes penalties for peanut crushing, removes a wheat planting expansion, and awaits final approval by both houses before sending to President Truman.
