The conference committee reports set a two year state outlay of 131.63 million from general revenue for four major services. They show a near balance with no new taxes but a potential 12 to 17 million revenue shortfall. Senate and House leaders expect adjournment by Saturday with a possible special session on tax matters.

House voting on the bill begins Monday with numerous amendments. administration allies claim strong support while Republicans split. The measure funds slum clearance and public housing for low income and farm housing aids with projected costs between 7.5 and 20 billion over 40 years. Senate already approved 810,000 units in six years. House may adjust to 810,000 as well.
An 82 year old pensioner, John Hughes, claimed a Field City grocery cashier issued him 18 dollars in cash and a $20 nylons coupon instead of his pension payment. Deputies searched for a blonde-haired clerk as they probe the incident.
Dr. Ray Lyman Wilbur, longtime Stanford University head and former secretary of the interior, died at 74 in his Stanford home after a heart illness. Hoover praised his service to the nation. Wilbur led Stanford from 1916 to 1943 and later served as chancellor until his death. Funeral plans were not announced.
Austin recorded 1.48 inches of rain from weekend thundershowers featuring loud thunder and lightning. More showers and violent weather were forecast for Monday after a Saturday night downpour from 11:05 to 11:20 p.m. Scattered showers affected Central Texas with Austin experiencing the greatest rainfall in a brief period.

The UGO union agrees to end a five week strike on the Reichsbahn in West Berlin by Tuesday 8 a.m. West marks substitute for East currency, 100 percent wages guaranteed, no union recognition. The move follows Western commandants threats to cut unemployment relief and strain on four power agreements and airlift.
A Continental Trailways bus carrying 37 passengers crashed along a 109 foot bridge near Garland Texas on highway 67. Two people died Norma Charlene Floyd 20 and Bill Mack Ham 12. Four others were seriously injured and several more treated for minor injuries. The bus did not overturn and was en route to Hot Springs Arkansas.
