The Martha Society of Palm Valley Lutheran Church met in Round Rock with seven hostesses in charge of the social hour. President Mrs Emil Anderson led the business session and Mrs Milford Anderson led devotions. a round table on Take Another Look at the Map was discussed. A get well card was signed for Rev O M Bloom recovering from illness.
Mrs. John H. Kight was installed as president of the Modern Study Club at the annual meeting held Tuesday at Mrs. J. L. Love’s home on Wooldridge Drive. New officers include Mrs. Joe Crow as vice president and Mrs. Walter C. Moore Jr. as secretary treasurer. Mrs. John H. Steinle Jr. becomes librarian. Co-hostess was Mrs. Moore and luncheon was served to listed members.
Mrs. H. R. Floeckinger of the Williamson County Red Cross asks for donations to Camp Hood station hospital. Items include magazines under two months old, comics, playing cards, used records, and plastic toys for the children’s department. Leave at the Taylor Press office by Saturday.
Members of the Austin Chapter, American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., will convene at 8 p.m. Friday in the DAV Home at 307 Live Oak to discuss chapter affairs and activities.
Mr and Mrs C L Hodges hosted a gathering for teachers and staff at the Austin State School library. Speakers included Dr Charles Castner superintendent, Mr Hodges educational director, and Mrs Blanche Fizer home economics teacher. Attendees listed include Dr Castner and numerous staff members.
Mrs Ella Jensen hosts an all day picnic at her Lake Travis lodge on Sunday to honor Austin Business and Professional Women members. Members may bring guests and reservations are via Miss Queenie Littman.
Mr. and Mrs. Travis Raven and son Ronnie of Yoakum are spending the summer in Austin with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C Bergstrom, 2409 Sabine. Mr. Raven is working on his master’s degree in physical education at the University of Texas.
Mrs. G. L. Huckaby entertained her guests Mrs. Allena Redding of Arlington and Mrs. Clara Beat Attaway of Dime Box at a 42 party Tuesday morning. After games, luncheon was served. Attending were Mesdames Mildred Schlueter Annie Keogh George Schwarzer Mary Posey W. R. Davis and Laura Maud.
Tongue and Thimble Group and University Ladies Newcomers Club host gatherings led by Mrs Norris G Davis at 5225 Dallas Highway at 2 30 p m. Austin Woman Club meets at the club with board at 11 a m and luncheon at 12 30 p m. Non Commissioned Officers Wives Club convenes at the club at 1 30 p m. Co Wed Club holds bridge in Room 315 of the Texas Union Building from 7 to 10 p m.
Patricia LaVerne Lindgren valedictorian of Manor High School's 1949 class will enter Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin on June 20. Daughter of Mrs. Lindgren and the late Mr. Lindgren, she edited The Mustang and placed second in declamation in the Interscholastic League and acted in the school play.
