Heart Ailment Kills Famous Columnist

Alexandria, Virginia July 30 4 Paul Raymond Mallon aged 49 retired newspaperman and columnist died Sunday morning of a heart ailment. Mallon began a column news behind the news in 1930 and it was being published in 300 newspapers by 1947. He was born January 5 1901 in Mattoon Illinois and educated at the University of Louisville and Notre Dame. He started as a reporter with the Louisville Courier Journal and worked with the Herald-Post Louisville and the South Bend News-Times. He served with United Press in New York 1920 1932 and from 1923 to 1932 was UP political writer in Washington.

Clothes and Money Stolen from City Pool Cars and Belongings

Three thefts at city pools Sunday report valuables taken from two cars at Barton Springs and from clothing left at Stacy Pool.
