Marble Falls Dam Nears Completion in Central Texas

The Marble Falls and Granite Shoals dams by the Lower Colorado River Authority rise on the Colorado River below Marble Falls. Marble Falls Dam will be 90 feet high, 610 feet long, with 44 000 horsepower capacity and a 900 acre lake. The project costs 7 187 560 dollars and aims for January 1951 completion. The new dams will impound water from Buchanan and Inks, improving soil fertility and enabling rice crops as Central Texas opens up.

Gas Tax Payout to Travis County Sets $59314 Share

Travis County will receive 59314 from rural road funds to be distributed among Texas counties and the Highway Department. The state board approved bond obligations and the distribution of the lateral road money from a one cent state line tax. County Auditor Jim Berger said the county’s share funds principal and interest on outstanding bonds while the state earmarks its portion for farm to market roads.

Taxicab Inspection Ends Wednesday

Taxi operators who missed cab inspections by Wednesday night were told by police to keep streets open as the three day inspection at the City Coliseum concludes. This is the final of four quarterly checks for media defects in Waxpes Blackman and other cabs.
