Bartlett faced strong progress as the Bartlett Electric Cooperative received a $162,000 REA loan to extend central station power to about 200 rural families. The loan funds line extensions and system upgrades aimed to boost service for roughly 2,000 existing users and lift the grid to 900 miles serving 2,200 consumers. Since 1945 the co-op has drawn $1,177,141 in REA loans while remaining non profit and tax compliant.

Funeral planned for Lockhart teen killed in wreck
Yvonne Voigt a 15 year old Lockhart high school junior and radio singer died when a car she rode in rear ended a truck carrying oil field gear. Sheriff Williams and Deputy Cook with State Patrolmen Dickson and Carpenter investigated. Services set for Thursday at 3 15 p m at Field Funeral Home with burial at Pettytown Cemetery. Survivors include her parents five sisters and two brothers.
