Two Central Texas officers graduate from Maxwell Air Force Base Command and Staff School on December 15. Major Sidney Weatherford of San Marcos and Lt. Col. Robert Ellis of Rockdale completed training. Weatherford served in Europe and the Pacific during World War II and in Hawaii in 1944 45. Ellis served in the Caribbean Theater from 1945 to 1948.
The H. M. Lindsey family of 200 West 40th Street received a late Christmas present Wednesday a letter from Marine Private First Class Ben D. Lindsey reporting he was safe in South Korea. He described a harsh five day march in the Chosin Reservoir area and said his unit reached Hambung then Pusan and Masan. Lindsey noted many deaths and injuries, frostbitten feet, and that he never wants to return to the area. He is a UT Austin graduate, enlisted almost 18 months ago, and will turn 21 on February 21.

Phyllis L. Richards of Austin received a master's degree at the University of Chicago during its 244th convocation. Chancellor Robert M. Hutchins conferred the degrees on 427 graduates.
William E. Butlin of London sold his assets of the half completed Butlin Bahamas Vacation Village for 4 million dollars. The Bahamas village, opened partially in 1850 and placed in receivership, was sold to unnamed American investors as Butlin retires from the US Lake Austin venture. The sale follows London reports of about 10 million pounds in assets and potential losses of 200,000 pounds if liquidated.
Captain William C. Schulle of San Antonio is in pilot training at Randolph Air Force Base. After completion he will join the Strategic Air Command for assignment to a B29 combat unit. He is the son of Mr and Mrs William C Schulle of 2501 Schulle Avenue.
Guillermo R. Padolina, 35, director of field service for Philippine Boy Scouts, pursues an MA in education at the University of Texas while aiding Cub Scout activities in Austin. He arrived with the Philippine contingent for the National Scout Jamboree and notes membership has grown to about 150,000. Padolina is sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega, Rotary Club, and Capitol Area Council. he is married with a son and attends International Week at UT.
Six Austin students at the University of Texas join Beta Beta Alpha women’s professional business organization. New members are Jeanette Ferris Ann Kosky Joye Lucerne Clark Sara Ann Berlowitz and Mary Bratton with parent details and campus affiliations noted.
