Kwill Klub members read short stories at a Saturday afternoon gathering in Mrs. W. T. Decherd home. Readings included works by Mrs. Adolph Koch Miss Nina Lee Weisinger and Mrs. Gerald Clapton with Miss Weisinger in charge. A business session led by Miss Wester welcomed new member Mrs. Josephine Daniel and paid tribute to the late Mrs. M. M. Birge. Floral decor featured bronze chrysanthemums and white tapers.

Fulmore PTA voted to endorse the Gilmer-Aikin report after a talk by Dr. J. W. Edgar of the Austin Public Schools. The group plans to send a motion letter to Governor Beaufort Jester, Travis County legislators, and the Gilmer-Aikin committee. The meeting featured Christmas carols by the Fulmore Chorus and a report on the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers convention.

San Marcos reports the highest peace time postal receipts in history. Through November 1948 total mail receipts reached 60 148 60, up nearly 6 000 from the prior year. The post office handled 401 594 pieces of letter mail in December last year and expects similar volume this year.
