Rabid dog found in Austin prompts city dog pickup

A large black and white dog tested rabies positive after reportedly biting 12 other dogs. Sanitary engineer Herbert Hargis said the animal was captured on South First Street and linked to fights with several other dogs both inside and outside the city. Authorities planned to observe tagged dogs and dispose of untagged ones as a precaution.
