West Texas Gulf Highway link urged by Llano County group
Llano County officials and Llano Chamber of Commerce pressed the Texas Highway Commission to immediately bridge the final 30 miles of the West Texas to Gulf highway from Marble Falls to Llano. They pledged county cooperation, right of way readiness, and asked designation and early construction while noting the project would shorten Houston to West Texas travel by about 25 miles.

Attorney General rules Gilmer-Aikin funding not a conflict
Attorney General Price Daniel ruled there is no conflict between the Gilmer-Aikin and appropriation laws allowing Foundation School Fund money to finance operating costs of the State Department of Education. Comptroller Calvert questioned post Sept 1 expenses for the department and State Board of Education but the opinion says administration costs are part of the program. Ex-Constable Surrenders, Admits Killing Mashes in Texas
W Arwine a 63 year old former Bridgeport constable turned himself in near his home after a 24 hour manhunt. He admitted shooting Mr and Mrs Mash at their farm following a dispute over rape charges. He said he killed Mrs Mash after she cursed him and denied raping her. The bodies were found on the Mash property. Arwine was moved to Dallas County jail for safe keeping as Rangers joined the investigation.
