Thorn dale Aug 9 Miss Bobbie Dean Kelm bride elect of Richard Love was feted with a lawn shower at the Henry Kelm home. Hostesses listed. Group singing featured. Gifts presented in a green and white railroad cart. Refreshments served to family and many friends.
Double ring wedding held Aug 3 at the bride’s relatives home in Austin. Miss Jeannette Blackwell and J L Syme exchanged vows with Rev E E Wheeless officiating. Attendants included Mrs James Blackwell. best man James Blackwell. The couple will reside on a ranch near Jarrell with out of town guests from Salado Waco Temple Belton and Jarrell.
Edwin G. Higgins Post 856 and Auxiliary meet at the VFW Club 103 West Riverside at 8 p.m. Welcome Wagon Newcomers luncheon at the Country Club at noon. Welcome Wagon card club with Mrs. Gilkins at 7:30 p.m. Travis Chapter 472 CES holds a mas cot ceremony at 7:45 p.m. and regular meeting at 8 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
Lam pasas County home demonstration clubs held their annual encampment at Hancock Park. Families brought basket lunches as demonstrations included lamp shade weaving by Mrs Clint Terry, sandwich making by 4 H girls, stencil work by Mrs Homer Eddy, and rug making by Mrs M W Crider.
Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Marburger entertained with a Friday fish fry at their Coupland home honoring houseguests Mr. and Mrs. FE. D. Marburger and sons Gary and Alan of Houston. Attending were Lonnie Leonard, Ronnie Marburger, and Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Harkins of Taylor.
