Alexander Smith Sons Carpet Company of New York announces temporary reductions up to 20 percent on selected popular priced carpet lines. All lines are reduced nominally for an indefinite period as the firm cuts prices to current market levels.
Range breeding ewes in the Edwards Plateau near San Angelo are selling for 25 dollars a head. J. A. Gray, Extension Service sheep specialist in San Angelo, notes this price is common and cheaper than raising a breeding range cow, which can cost about 150 dollars. Gray led a wool school at the time.
Dripping Springs reports a 70 pound milk lamb at about 21 dollars per head, a margin that nearly covers the ewe with the first lamb crop. Despite a hard winter, lamb crops run high while breeding sheep on the range declines. Wool may reach one dollar per pound soon.
