Lightning caused a large blaze that consumed a barn and granary on the John Peterson farm about nine miles north of Aurelia. Losses appear heavy with a large fire, forcing payment for papers during a circuit court case in Atchison county Missouri.

Sioux City Wedding Unites Ethel Haskins and D P Mahoney

A noon ceremony at the Haskins home united Miss Ethel Jane Haskins and Mr. D P Mahoney with Dean Sydney L Chandler officiating. The bridal party included Dorothy Haskins ring bearer and Jewell Haskins as flower girl. Attendants wore white and carried a valley shower bouquet. School Opens With Strong Enrollment in New Addition

After a one week delay public schools opened on September 9 with a nearly full building. Grades report 105 and high school 42 students, with higher figures expected next week. The faculty includes Miss Miller, Miss Newcomb, Miss Coombs, Aurelia’s Mr. Fraser, Pat Miss Patty, Miss Lindberg, and Superintendent Alexander. Janitor Ed Johnson marks fourteen years in the role as the district enforces stayouts for hopping cough to curb spread.

Two Illinois Central brakemen suffer badly mangled injuries

A Moad, an Illinois Central brakeman, injured Friday night when his hand was crushed between two train cars in Cherokee yards. He faces possible hand loss and received treatment at a hospital after being sent to Cherokee. Fellow brakeman F C Dutton, later injured in Sulphur Springs, had his right arm crushed and amputated above the elbow.
