Cherokee County Board votes to appeal state valuation order
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors on September 28 1971 approved an appeal of a final property valuation order issued by Donald G Briggs Iowa Director of Revenue. The order raised residential realty values 15 percent in Cherokee and 8 percent in other towns. The county auditor and attorney were instructed to act under Sec 421.1S of the 1971 Code to perfect the appeal. A road vacation item for Fort Dodge was also approved with F.O.B. $965.00. The meeting adjourned with minutes read and approved.

Cherokee County Iowa Board of Supervisors held adjourned sessions on October 5 and October 12 1971 with full membership. They approved quarterly reports for local health funds weed commissioner's report and a contract study for a signalized crossing near Aurelia. They vacated a road segment subject to conditions and issued a duplicate warrant for mileage expenses. They authorized stop signs placement and approved numerous claims and budget items including county health, justice of peace, sheriff, auditor, treasurer, and various departments resources and services.
