The Peregrine White circle met at Mrs. Floyd Glawe's home October 14 with Fae Fraser presiding. Linna Waddell led the program, Rev. Sietsema presented Old Santa Fe, and devotions were given by Harriet McCurdy and Sietsema.
Four year old Gary Barr, son of Mr and Mrs Max Barr of Sturat, ran inside to tell his mother to see the bang bang a four foot rattlesnake found in the Barr household prompting a cautious exit by Mrs Barr and a local wildlife response.
Mrs Albert Sankey of Marion planned a hospital birth but delivered in the family car before reaching the hospital. She and the infant are reported doing well.
Dale Huseman of Menlo believed he had struck oil when a deep well supplying several Menlo businesses began delivering gasoline instead of water. The apparent gusher stopped after a neighboring garage repaired a leak in the gasoline tanks.
A 14 year old boy, Robert Wright, jumped from a downhill tractor. the vehicle rolled over his foot causing a compound fracture. He sustained injuries and was treated.
Sunday gatherings honored Mrs. Martha Lietz on her birthday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lietz and others visiting. Henry Glienke and Herman Winterhof welcomed a son and a birthday week note. Edgar Radke and wife announced a son born Oct 11 at Porath hospital. Local residents from Aurelia Peterson and Peter son area joined various social calls at the Zwemke and Lietz homes.
A Frank Bartosh farm stalk near Pocahontas rises 44 feet with 90 bean pods, a notable high growth.
