Mrs Wm Sleezer hosted a pleasant school district gathering honoring Miss Lucille Meacham with gifts and a luncheon. Loma Robinson returned to classes after two weeks out for measles. Several local families visited and shared meals over the weekend. Fred Sump of Spring township died of double pneumonia. funeral held at St John’s Lutheran Church.
The Afton Elk club met May 1 at Mrs. Ammons with all members present and elected officers Mrs. Ida Goettsch president and Mrs. Oscar N. Peterson secretary treasurer. May 15 gathering at Mrs. Anderson’s featured flower vase decorating and a luncheon, with visitors listed. Next meeting May 29 at Mrs. Goettsch’s. Bernice Kolpin attended Quentin Anderson’s home and evening mother and daughter banquet at the German Lutheran church. Peterson attended baccalaureate with Jay Petton family for Brooke graduates.
