Edward S. Parker of Ida Grove declares his Republican candidacy for State Senator from the 46th District. He seeks support ahead of the June primary.
The Cherokee county tuberculosis conference reported no active TB cases among residents. One heart condition was found. 39 case histories were taken, 22 people tested with tuberculin, seven positive, and 15 new X rays conducted. Eight annual case finding program funded by local health groups.
Attendance at Union Daily Vacation Bible School is strong with about 90 registered teachers and scholars, likely to reach 160. Children show great interest as short religious films are shown each morning as part of the religious education program.
Attempt to free a stuck truck led to a tractor tipping backward over Mrs. Raser. She sustained a broken right arm, bruises, and shock as her husband’s plan nearly endangered her life last week.

Trinity Lutheran Church Alta Iowa led by C Philip Holmberg invites parishioners to morning worship at 11 and church school at 10. Daily vacation bible school runs 9 to 12 for two weeks starting Monday. Luther League program On To Camp with slides scheduled next Thursday at 8 p.m. Teachers meet May 29 at George Carlson farm at 8 p.m.
Immanuel Lutheran Church Elk invites children to Vacation Bible School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily for two weeks Monday through Friday. Morning worship is at 9 45 a m and Sunday school age children are invited. The Sentinel is the authorized agent for subscriptions to Sioux City newspapers.
The annual Women’s Club luncheon met Friday at the Methodist church parlors with sixty four attendees. Mrs. L. H. Daniels served as toastmaster under a spring theme featuring poems by Mrs. Harriett McCurdy and readings by Mrs. Daniels. Mrs. Russell Flory received a farewell party at Storm Lake’s Manawah club with a 6:30 dinner and prize presentations.
A Friday afternoon birthday gathering at a home featured about twelve friends sharing lunch and gifts. Among out of town guests were Mrs. George Glane of Alta Mrs. Blanche Kelpin and Mrs. Joe Shively of Cherokee.

A Lenox man and novice angler Tom Neuhardt died while fishing. He hooked a six pound bass but released it, hoping to catch it again once bass season opens. The town mourns his loss.

A white billy goat topped a Laurens auction fetching 356 dollars. Proceeds supported a memoria hospital fund, while the winning bidder returned the goat to its original owner after the sale.
