Social Items From A.C.C. Meeting At Mrs Smith Home
The A.C.C. met Wednesday at Mrs. Joseph R. Smith home with 13 members and five guests including Mrs. Max Gilbert Mrs. Lester Mel ton Mrs. Joe Dessel Mrs. Frank Ducommun and Kathleen Jones. Roll call named a garden vegetable we enjoy. President Mrs. Harry Pingel led the meeting. Correspondence came from Mrs. Kenneth Jones and Mrs. Glenn Loucks family. It was decided the group would purchase a silver Maple tree.

Community clubs hold auctions, meetings, and showers
Afton Community Building hosted a silent auction raising 25.70 for the club treasury. Mrs. George Smith led bingo with several winners and Mrs. Victor Carlson won the door prize. Next meeting set for May 12 at Mrs. Jim Walcott’s home. Friendship Club gathered April 28 at Mrs. Perry Brake’s near Rembrandt with 22 members, Pollyanna gifts given, and various handcrafts on display. The Perrys moved from Elk Township to Scott Township. Mrs. Rodney Miller to host May 26 at Aurelia Shelter House. Syd Evers and Rod Bruns wedding shower held at Alta Methodist Church with several attendees. Sunset Knoll Auxiliary met last Monday at a member’s home.

The meeting opened with Mrs. Cliff Gould reading Letting Them Know We Care. Roll call had 19 members. Upcoming events include a wine and cheese party May 4, a residents families meeting May 3, and a Liberty Tree donation not planted until after the new addition is built. Next meeting moved to May 24 for Memorial Day. May birthdays for Gladys Torrey John Umhoefer and Elsie Hinkeldey. Mt Olive Baptist Church sponsors the May birthday party with favors by Lucky Clover 4-H. Trinity Lutheran Church Alta will hold May Bible Study. Hostesses for next meeting are Mrs Clair Parrott and Mrs Ralph Peterson. Hostesses Emma Gearke Effie Ohlson Elvira Otto served refreshments. Bingo followed. Embroidery Club meets May 7 at 8:30 am at Mrs Marie Nelson for breakfast. bring own table service. Aurelia Temple No 72 Pythian Sisters meet May 12 at 2 pm in their hall.
