Afton Farm Bureau members held a joint meeting at Ray Jones home last Thursday evening. About fifty attended as O. W. Bealer Des Moines organization director spoke on the bureau’s value and plans. County Agent Clarence G. Turner spoke, and District No. 8 pupils led a rural school music demonstration conducted by Mrs. Edne Clow.
The diver or loon is a difficult bird to shoot, solitary and usually found on small waters. It may rise or dive unpredictably, and the female lays two or three eggs, keeping divers not very numerous.

The county board of supervisors approved purchasing seed potatoes for relief in a 100 bushel lot. Steeles Bank, long private, will convert to a state bank under Iowa law. Auditor reports 323 licensed dogs this year, 167 fewer than mid March 1932. Mayor A Lawrey Jr leads caucus with 290 of 583. rival C L Mase remains in the race with 156 votes.
In Montgomery county one man, thought to be broke, is found to have about $1,500 in a Red Oak bank. A volunteer solicitor checked his waiver signature and helped him realize the funds were his. He had borrowed $300 last fall and forgotten the additional balance.
Mr and Mrs H H Otto and daughter Erna visited at the August Miller home in Galva on Monday. The Fred Schmeckoeper family and Adolph Loeb of Galva joined supper at Lester Kolpin’s. Mrs August Voss and daughters and Mrs J L Plog called on business in Sioux City. Dick Schmidt and Kenneth called on business in Alta. Fred and Henry Hinkeldey were guests Thursday. Wm Speckerer and family visited the August Miller home in Galva Sunday. Alma Otto of Des Moines spent a week visiting her mother Mrs Claus Otto and other relatives.
