Published weekly with second class matter at Aurelia Iowa. Subscriptions in Cherokee County cost 3 50 per year in advance. Outside Cherokee County 3 50. Classified ads per line with a 60 cent minimum for first insertion. Cards of Thanks are 1 00 each per insertion.
The Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet was held in the old school gym with the theme Our American Heritage. Rev Speer opened with invocation as guests Supt and Mrs Carlos Bryan and Mr and Mrs Carlton Schulke attended. new scouts David Gaudian Thomas Carney and Vernon Flack joined. Arrow of Light awards went to Mark Nelson and Gary Schulke, first for Pack 111, plus numerous badges earned by several scouts. The next meeting features the Pinewood Derby on March 29 at 7 30 p.m. at the Community Center.
A notice lists events at Aurelia Barber Shop from Saturday March 13 to Derby Day to verify car weights not exceeding 5 ounces. On Saturday March 27 Cub Scouts meet at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Center to distribute Goodwill bags. The following Saturday Aurelia Boy Scouts will collect the filled bags.
Paul Stieneke of Paul's Radio Shop Aurelia participated in a merchandising seminar conducted by Amana Refrigeration Inc at Fayetteville Tennessee. Attending the seminars were a select group of Amana dealers from Iowa Ohio Nebraska Minnesota South Dakota and Nevada.
Vernon Klumpp won two first place trophies at the Albert City Lions Club stock snowmobile races on Sunday February 28. He claimed top in the 296 345 CC class with a 292 CC Snow Jet and again led the 401 440 CC class with a Rupp 44 Sprint. He also earned prize money.
Afton Jr Farmers will meet March 11 at 8 00 at the Afton Community Center. Demonstration of meat cuts will be given by Craig Evans Calvin Miller and Blaine Perry. Scott Doug and Grant Haight will be in charge of serving lunch.
Dr. R A Batz of Aurelia attended the 89th annual Iowa Veterinary Medical Association meeting in Des Moines February 21 to 24. The three and a half day conference showcased the latest scientific advances in veterinary medicine.
A sincere thank you to all who sent cards letters flowers and gifts while I was in the hospital. Special thanks to Dr Berge nurses and aides for their care. Visits and kindness greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. Leonard Pingel.
March 1 visitors to Lillian Wahlstrom included Mr Art Larson Elmer Wahlstrom and Reuben Rehnstrom. Mrs Robert Anderson of Storm Lake called.
Elsie Gearke and Ed Rydstrom of Alta visited Art Rydstrom. Nellie Cates of Cherokee visited. March 2 Rudy Zoffka of Cherokee called on sister Hattie Smith. March 5 Ida Wehrspann's guests included Raymond and Will Lauck and Alvina Schmeling. Aurelia Lassies 4-H met March 1 to plan Heart Fund Drive and served popovers and cocoa.
