The ladies council of the adult school met to set start times at 7 30 pm with the first session on November 30 offering three lessons before Christmas. Early topics include Christmas preparations and home decorations and cards. Later offerings cover textile painting sewing knitting consumer buying ceramics flower arrangement shell craft and wood craft. Members invite fills and preferences by August 1 and the P T A will sponsor typing bookkeeping current problems and square dancing. Galva defeated the Aurelia Atoms 3 to 2 at Galva on Tuesday June 27. All Galva runs came in the first inning on one hit a stolen base and three errors. Aurelia answered with two in the second on one hit a fly ball three errors and a balk. The rest of the game was scoreless as pitchers dominated. Joan Hassman starred at third for Galva with two walks a run and flawless defense. Aurelia pitcher Shirley Sherkenbak fanned eight and scored Aurelia’s only other run on a two base hit. Hall faced Galva and Peterson caught. Batters for Aurelia were Sherkenbak and Maureen Mallory. The game lasted one hour.

Aurelia high school summer baseball opened with a 4 to 0 loss to Storm Lake in five innings at Storm Lake last Thursday. Pitcher Reed allowed two hits, two strikeouts, and six walks for Aurelia while Parrott caught. Ohison earned the win with four strikeouts and two walks. Storm Lake scored all runs in the first two innings, and Aurelia threatened in the second before a runner reached third. The team plans one to two practices and two games weekly ahead of the July 10 summer tournament.

Services Held Tuesday For C. R. Waddell
Funeral services for C. R. Waddell Sr. 74, who died Sunday, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Aurelia Methodist church with Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer officiating. Burial followed in Aurelia cemetery. Waddell lived much of his life in Aurelia and farmed south of town. He operated a drag line, a butcher shop, and a school bus and helped haul materials for the church. Surviving are his widow Grace, daughters Leota Davis and Clementine Westphal, son Charles Jr., five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several siblings and nieces and nephews.

First Aurelia Summer Band Concert Impresses Crowd
A large crowd gathered on Aurelia Main Street Saturday night to hear the season’s first band concert conducted by Raymond Kruse. Daniel Lockin of Plattsmouth Nev performed tape dance and solos, with the program featuring marches waltzes and serenades. The band thanks Else Nelson and Lockin for their contributions. A coronet trio of John Wilson Leland Anderson and Larry Nelson will highlight next Saturday’s concert from the Main Street bandstand. Band practice is set for Friday at 7 45 PM at the schoolhouse and local musicians are urged to join.
