From where I sit Joe Marsh notes Bert Childers recalls wartime habits that linger. Bert favors liberal butter yet recalls scarcity, and as a wartime worker he kept to measured beer. His wife saves fats and waste paper, a habit learned from wartime necessity.
Mrs. Clyde Kudrle hosted a three course dinner honoring Ruth Kudrle with eleven guests and a pink rose centerpiece. A Friday shower with yellow and white decor followed, featuring a scrap book and contests. Other notes include several weddings, travels, and local gatherings involving Afton residents.

The Aurelia F F A softball team was defeated by Wall Lake 18 to 2 in the district tournament final at Laurens Tuesday after earlier wins over Laurens 10 to 3 and Lake City 14 to 8. Pitchers Bill Troxel and Don Galvin led Aurelia with Dan Coombs catching. lineup included Kletus Lenz Leland Anderson Don Mumert Bill Fox Harlen Kolpin Harold Brownmiller Keith Langwin and Vernon Jensen. Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta Iowa invites all to church school and Bible classes at 10 a.m. Friday Vacation Bible school and church school picnic will follow a noon picnic dinner at Alta south park. Monday Daughters of Trinity meet at George Carlson home at 8 p.m. The 1947 Confirmation class girls will attend.
