Joyce Davis Wins Ten Day Trip to Camp Minnewanca

Joyce Davis daughter of Mr and Mrs Laurence Davis of Spring township is among four Iowa 4-H girls named at Ames as winners of ten day trips to Camp Minnewanca Shelby Michigan. The awards honor outstanding 4-H club records and leadership potential announced at the 15th annual state convention closing session at Iowa State College. Davis was praised as Cherokee county most outstanding 4-H girl and her trip expenses were paid by the county Junior Farm Bureau from club nominations. She is a Brooke Consolidated junior, former county 4-H girls president active in livestock and club work with prize cattle selling well.

Michigan Safety Panel Blames Motorists Pedestrians

The Michigan State Safety committee says both motorists and pedestrians cause high pedestrian deaths. It cites 26 pedestrian deaths as a quarter of June traffic fatalities and urges slower speeds when lights glare. Pedestrians should walk on the left side. most deaths occur 5 PM to 11 AM.
