Clyde Helmick of Wright County went fox hunting when a duck was missing. He found a fox den with nine pups and the remains of an additional duck, three or four lambs, three pigs, rabbits, pheasants, a mud hen and chickens.

Five year old Karen Hoth of Sumner was struck by a shotgun pellet in her back yard last week. The pellet penetrated the skin just below the heart, but she has recovered.

Record Time Plows 100 Acre Field Near Alcester

A field of 100 acres owned by Roy Numsen near Alcester was plowed in likely a record time last week while Numsen was away tending his injured five year old daughter. Neighbors used 32 tractors in the rapid plowing effort and the child is reported to be improving.

Dairy cattle sent to Mexico for classroom and research use

Some prize dairy cattle from Butler and Bremer counties are en route to Mexico. Representatives of the Mexican Agricultural College purchased the cattle for classroom work and for experimental purposes on the college farm at Saltillo Coahuila.
