Mrs Helen Jackson of Cherokee attended a large gathering while Mr and Mrs Darrel bmmis welcomed a daughter born at Sioux Valley hospital on Saturday July 23. Several local residents joined picnics and visits across Cherokee Storm Lake and nearby homes including weddings anniversaries and family gatherings with many relatives and friends in attendance.
The Lancashire collection includes 22 bells assigned to dates before 1550. The oldest bell is at Claughton from 1206. Five or six bells date to the 14th century and a similar number to the 15th century. Six bells are dated 1550 to 1600.
Fingerprints show distinctive ridge characteristics making identical copies extremely unlikely. Conclusions are reached quickly during analysis, and while the human body changes, finger ridge lines remain permanent.
The Diamond Sparklers 4-H club met at leader Mrs Vernon Andersons home after a 4 H convention in Ames. Achievement day set for August 5 at District No 8 schoolhouse with a program. County 4 H day August 9 at Cherokee. Various visits and family events noted including funerals and gatherings. A gravel pit project near Diamond Center involved stripping five feet of dirt with heavy equipment.
A nearby gravel source will be used to surface roads in the area this summer. Officials plan to extract and spread material to improve accessibility and reduce dust and erosion.
Hanover residents Eddie Heimsoth and Forest House man of Storm Lake visited the Tester Specketer home Monday. Several Galva residents including Adolph Loeb and August Miller joined gatherings at Galva and Welcome Minnesota homes. Families and friends shared meals and hosted visits through the week. Mrs. Walter Holtz planned a Minneapolis trip to visit her parents, W. J. Beatty.
