Winter care for rural mail routes urged by Alta Advertiser
With winter near, rural patrons are asked to clear new drifts from mailboxes after storms and to drop pennies into carrier stamp books. Carriers must stop, remove mittens, and pick up pennies one by one to save time on many stops. Collecting pennies eases routes during bad roads and protects carriers from cold exposure.
