Monday events at the Swedish Lutheran church in Alta. numerous calls and hospital notes from Alta Cherokee Aurelia and Cherokee. Social clubs and church circles meet for gatherings with family visits, showers, anniversaries, and weddings noted along with hospital stays and travels.
Harold Brownmiller will host the next meeting. Peregrine White circle met January 11 at Mrs. G. C. Bell with Mrs. Harriet McCurdy assisting. Mrs. Glenwood Waddell led the business, in Mrs. Fae Fraser's absence, and Mrs. Will Patten spoke on being a church woman. Lunch followed. Next gathering with Mrs. Imp Krout. Mary Guild circle met at Mrs. Gebhardt's with hostesses Mrs. Carl Grienke and Mrs. Wilson Perry. Poems were read and the coming year's work explained. A package of used clothing was packed for a Greek family. Eight members and two guests attended.
Across the state young men and even girls went from town to assist farmers in salvaging corn. The speaker praises Iowa neighbors for mutual aid and tolerance, noting town folks helping farmers and farmers helping towns as a hallmark of Iowa character.
