Gerhardt Arnold J and Lester Niemeter traveled to California for several weeks. Mr and Mrs Raymond Goettsch were Friday visitors at Elmer Goettsch home. The Marquardt family left for Peoria Illinois to visit Otto. They were joined to Cedar Rapids by Pennington sisters. They then returned Monday. Freese visited Meyers near Cushing Sunday. The Linquist family house wired for REA electricity. Milton Otto returned from St Louis to spend two weeks with relatives. Maurice Peterson left for California with Mr and Mrs Haight.
Mrs Earl Crippen plans a Santa Monica visit. Holstein callers include Melvin and John Linquist. Hickey family and Gustafsons host Sunday dinner near Aurelia. Peter son and family from Linn Grove attend. Sioux City trip features Bess Pitcher Leon Pitcher and others. Denison visit to Henry Raabe home. Funeral in Spencer for Bruce Noll. Lindsay party and Birth day Club gathering with high and low scores and gift exchange. W F Hickey treated in Sioux City hospital for eye ailment. Orville Hickey accompanies him. Frank Negless hosts visits from Schumacher families near Cushing.
A church announces Christmas season activities including Sunday school at 10, morning worship at 11, a Christmas program Sunday evening at 7 30, and Bible study Thursday evening. It urges attendance to celebrate Jesus Christ and invites newcomers and visitors.
Pastor L H Preul announces 10:00 Sunday school led by George Lamm with a program and tree on Friday at 7 30 pm. Morning worship at 11:00 with a World Service Christmas Offering collection. Aurelia High School’s basketball teams lost two straight Sioux Valley conference games. The varsity dropped 38 to 18 at Alta with Coburn scoring five and H Johnson leading Alta with 12. the junior varsity went 22 to 1 to Alta. In the Primghar rematch Aurelia led 6-6 after a first period and 13-12 at halftime, but Primghar pulled away in the final quarter to win 20-15 with Royce Hughes leading Primghar with 10. Aurelia resumes after the holidays against Hartley on Jan 5 at Aurelia. both banks close Monday, Dec 25 for the holiday.
