At the request of many citizens, the board of supervisors approved a 300 appropri ation to conduct an agricultural experiment station at the county poor farm after thorough discussion at the recent session. The discussion reflected strong support for advancing farm science locally.
Richard Honick a life convict from Cook County and former station agent attacked Captain M. J. Kane in a Joliet shoe shop, slashing the face and neck with a knife before guard William H. Reynolds stopped him. Honick claimed motive was punishment for religious literature left in his cell.
