Savannah Washingtonian Temperance Society to Send Delegates

A Savannah Temperance Society meeting on November 19 1843 authorized the executive committee and president to appoint three delegates for the Eatonton Temperance Convention on November 23. The society formed January 7 elected officers John Ingersoll president and other leaders. Seventy six pledged members were reported, with fourteen having broken or resigned leaving sixty seven active members, including 46 men and 21 women.
