The editors pledge independence and focus on state politics with Truth as their guide and the Sea of Principle as their compass. Subscriptions are three dollars per year payable on delivery, or four dollars after twelve months.

I offer for sale a tract of about sixteen hundred acres on Fishing Creek twelve miles from Washington and nine from Petersburg. It is first quality, well kept with dwelling outbuildings and large fruit orchards. Price about one third below value with liberal terms including one third cash and balance in two annual payments.
