The list records names of individuals with letters remaining in the Columbia Court-house post office as of October 6 1810. It includes many surnames along with titles such as Rev and Capt and notes items like be sent to various residents and offices. The compilation reflects early 19th century postal practice and community names.
A fellow about ten feet ten inches high real name Davy ran away from Augusta Thursday evening last. formerly owned by Harden of Virginia sold to John F. Cocke near Athens Georgia and eloped in 1808, was captured near Cambridge Carolina and sold from Edgefield jail after twelve months. He goes by Reuben Evans, branded with H on forehead and cheeks. He wears a blue round coat with red cape and nankeen pantaloons. Rewards total 75 dollars for delivery in or out of Augusta. Editors urged to publish three times. THO. The Subscriber offers his plantation of 300 acres 16 miles from Augusta and 7 miles from Edgefield Court House. Goods include livestock crop tools wagon cart and household furniture plus a Negro man. Private sale until Wednesday the 17th when remaining items sell at public auction from ten to two. Apply to Augustus Moore Edgefield Court House.
The subscriber intends to jump off the remainder of his stock in trade offering great bargains to those who come forward. The assortment is mostly on credit and open to merchants, mechanics, or planters. J. S. Walker of Anguila notes stills and a few mules will be bettered for produce.
After nine months from this date an application will be made to the Inferior Court of Green County for leave to sell the real estate of Joseph Trimble deceased for the benefit of heirs and creditors Patsey Trimble administratrix Robert Trimble administrator April 7 1810 ign
Notice states that William Belcher, having recovered health and paid debts, resumes business in this town and will confine to commission business alone offering services to friends and others in Georgia. Reference to Thomas Cumming, Augusta. April at October 13.
Nine months from date application will be made to the Inferior Court of Elbert county for leave to sell several tracts of land in Baldwin and Elbert counties. The real estate belongs to Thomas Carter late of Elbert dec and heirs and creditors will be benefited. Names include James Carter Higginbotham Dudley Bond and Charles Carter. September 29 1810.
Public sale Friday the 26th between 10 and 12 at the premises House and Lot on Broad Street now occupied by Hotby and Bunce. Excellent business location promises a bargain.
