In Trenton New Jersey on the 10th instant Fanny Wyatt owned by Joan C Stevens won the four mile heats beating Mingo Enceiro and Campsides with times 7m 48s and 7m 53s In the same day Spirit of the Times notes Post Boy forfeited by Invines Jingo in a four mile match for 5000 dollars.
The Milledgeville Recorder notes a House resolution introduced and passed requesting information on Mr Towns resignation. The Governor replied confirming only a letter from Towns asking if any communication had been received, dated Pontitoc Mississippi.

Backing stands firm and any forfeit would be posted by John's supporters if needed.

Miles M Calhoun died of hemorrhage of the lungs on the 2d instant at the residence of James A Noble in Barnwell District 8 C. He was in his 29th year and described as amiable and courteous, never given to vice, and respected for his genuine gentlemanly qualities.
The text mourns a young man’s untimely death describing his amiable traits and public esteem. It notes a Mobile death on the 11th of the month for Anna nam Wootsry, formerly of Augusta, and in Benton, Lowndes county, a Mr Freventce Merrimay aged 33, a Connecticut native long resident of Augusta and Benton.
The Bank of Augusta declares a dividend of four dollars per share from last six months profits plus six dollars per share from surplus profits since January. Dividend payable from November 22.
