A report that a disease had appeared near Columbus is deemed likely false after Columbus papers of the 26th ult were silent. Simeon Martin fled New Orleans on the 20th ult with about $20,000 in funds from the Mechanics and Traders Bark, with a $2,000 reward offered for capture.
