Prohibition Act Against Importing Slaves 1807 Title
Sectioned act by Nathanael Macon and Thomas Jefferson to bar slave importation into United States ports from 1808. It prescribes seizure and forfeiture of ships and cargo, penalties for captains, and required manifests for coastwise shipping. It directs officers to seize vessels violating the ban and outlines distribution of seized proceeds.
