War Department invites separate proposals for rations 1808 1810
The War Department issues notices inviting separate proposals for supplying all rations for United States troops from October 11, 1808 to June 1, 1810 across multiple districts including Niagara Detroit Mackinac Fort Wayne Chicago and adjoining areas in Michigan and nearby states. Proposals for January 11 1809 to June 1 1810 cover additional districts from Maine New Hampshire Vermont Massachusetts Connecticut Rhode Island New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Maryland Delaware Virginia North Carolina South Carolina and Georgia. Ration composition includes beef or pork bread rum and other staples with prices to be specified and adjustable as needed. Proposals may also cover Springfield Massachusetts and the U S Armory there for 1809 to 1818.
