Passengers arriving in Charleston aboard the Columbus report Col Crowett's horse Joux Bascomay won the great North versus South match on the 31st ult, defeating Post Bar though New York journals do not mention the race. An election in the city elected for Judge Inferior Court vacancy and County Surveyor with results listing Eve 170 Hare 73 for judge and Barron 149 Tanven 79 for surveyor.
From Columbus, the Steam Boat Metamora reached Apalachicola then Roanoke area under fire. Three companies of troops aboard. five men injured, three seriously. Marks of bullets observed around the vessel. Separate letter notes no envelopes found on Broan in mail robbery case and Gen Jehud Jessup departed Columbus on the 4th for Tuskegee.

Dr Ginus to provide dinner free for Revolutionary Soldiers Ladies and county citizens. The event aims to invite Elberton residents and named officials were elected for day roles. Ardent Spirits deemed unnecessary. next meeting called by the secretary Amos W Hammond.

Died in Seyiven county on the evening of the 30th after a long illness L. M. Sturcerano. In Burke county on the 2d after four months illness Mrs. Jann Parsaen wife of Edmund Palmer aged 86. Mrs. Palmer was the second daughter of the late Rev. Robert Allen formerly of Richmond county.
Dr J Douglass M D surgeon dentist has returned to the city and will resume duties for a few weeks. He will reside at the Planters Hotel. June 8.
