Advertisement from B Picquet of Augusta announces himself as agent for Benj Sherrod Co BW Washington Wilkes County contractor for the Army of the United States in Georgia. He asks commanding officers to give early information on rations needed and promises prompt attention to letters on the subject. Dated January 4, 1813. tf

Property on Coffee Town Creek Edgefield County South Carolina comprises 100 acres upland with 30 under cultivation. Features include a two story frame dwelling 40 by 8 with spring water and outbuildings plus a two story frame storehouse 30 by 18. The Congress debate centers on a bill to let the President appoint officers below colonel directly. Mr Pitkin attacks the provision as eroding republican checks fearing a rise in presidential power. Mr Williams defends the plan as necessary for rapid postwar mobilization and minor officer appointments.
