Georgia Acts on Cherokee Lands and County Creation
The legislature enacts to alter survey rules for Cherokee lands within Georgia. It authorizes Governor to call out troops to protect surveyors, establishes penalties for obstructing surveys and damaging markers, and governs occupancy of improvements. It also creates a new Cherokee county west of the Chattahoochee, sets election and court structures, and reorganizes militia and tax provisions for pedlers and itinerant traders including slave trade restrictions.
