An 1813 Augusta ordinance imposes a penalty up to twenty five dollars on any owner or occupier with a chimney seen burning within city limits. The fine splits with informer and corporation, and procedures follow existing forfeiture rules. Passed February 6 1813 with officials Seaborn Jones and N W Herbert signatures.
December 25 notice reports a gray horse about sixteen hands high strayed from Mobtey’s Ponds on January 25. The horse limps on the right shoulder and is valued. a reward of five dollars is offered for delivery to Mr Jon. Waffea in Augusta Ech. ta.
Benj Sherrod & Co of Washington Wilkes county contractors for the Army of the United States in Georgia appoints R Picquet as agent. Commanding officers passing through Augusta should provide early information on rations needed. Letters on this subject to be attended to, January 4, 1813.
Notice requests capture of Primus a five six or seven year old enslaved man last seen at a Seri 3ven county plantation in Louisville Inc A description lists height clothing and a facial scar He is noted as very black with a downcast look and was the property of Ezekiel Alvidges or Mr Akridge The finder will receive compensation upon returning him to William Young at the plantation or jail within the state February 12
An act to incorporate the Mechanics Bank of Alexandria under the name Bank of Alexandria. It authorizes a capital of 500000 dollars in ten dollar shares, details subscription dates and governance including fifteen directors eight of whom must be mechanics, and provisions for election, officers, and bank powers and limits.
