A large blaze before one o clock yesterday morning destroyed multiple structures on Broad Street in Augusta. The fire started in the cellar under the Augusta Restorative owned by Mrs. Figsbeth Gordon and quickly spread to a corner dwelling, two stores, a Port Office section, and a brick dwelling on Donds Street. Most contents were removed. post office papers survived due to hasty evacuation. insurance covered much of the losses but the total amount remains undetermined.

A rail accident on the E L Miller near town damaged the tender axles, injuring one passenger with a dislocated shoulder. the locomotive suffered no damage.
On Saturday night a fine seventeen hand bay horse, about 15 hands high, owned by Carter, was stolen. The horse is mahogany bay with white markings, unshod, long mane and tail, and a dock uncut. John Conroe offers a reward for the delivery of the horse.
