Abolition Debate Dangers Warned By South Senator
In a Senate address dated March 1 1836 Mr Pulston from South Carolina cautions against letting abolitionism inflame sectional passions. He cites England Jamaica and Ireland to warn of dangers and urges swift decisive government action to bar incendiary petitions and protect the Union. He appeals to non slaveholding states to unite and confront the growing abolition agitation.
